The meeting was attended by representatives of the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Customs Intelligence. No declaration of any kind was issued at the end of the meeting.
However, sources said there was no clear plan of action in the meeting to address the issue and the meeting participants discussed the role of foreign currency traders in the smuggling of dollars the central bank said that most of the entities involved in this smuggling are those who are not authorized to deal in foreign currency, so immediate action should be taken against such entities and individuals, therefore it was decided that the FIA should take action against all such unauthorized entities and individuals.
It should be noted that FIA has been doing such actions in the past as well which did not yield any significant results and the law enforcement agencies in Pakistan seem unable to stop the smuggling of dollars to Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the issue of smuggling of precious stones, gold and other precious metals was also considered and it was also agreed to clarify a policy in this regard.
