The Sindh government has approved the provision of free birth registration services.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the aim of offering free birth registration is to simplify the process and make it accessible to marginalized communities.
By eliminating the registration fee, low-income individuals will be able to easily register their children.
He further mentioned that the availability of free registration will help in collecting accurate demographic data, leading to long-term benefits, and ensuring that every individual in Sindh has a legal identity.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Cabinet also approved a 7-year prison sentence and a fine of 500,000 rupees for the cultivation of crops associated with prohibited narcotics.
According to the cabinet’s decisions, producing or utilizing a location for drug manufacturing will result in a 14-year prison sentence and a fine of 2 million rupees, while drug possession will lead to imprisonment ranging from 1 to 7 years and a fine of 1 million rupees.
