Two doctors at Jinnah Hospital have shown suspected symptoms of the Congo virus, as reported by national media on Saturday.
According to a report citing hospital sources, the two house officers at Jinnah Hospital had provided medical care to a Congo virus patient last week. The Congo patient passed away on June 19 during treatment at the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital.
Regarding this, Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital Dr. Shahid Rasool stated that both doctors are experiencing high fever and abdominal pain; one house officer is isolating at home, while the other is in the medical ICU at Jinnah Hospital.
He said that one house officer is showing 90% of the symptoms of the Congo virus. Both doctors began showing symptoms the day after treating the patient. PCR test samples from both doctors have been sent to the lab, and the Congo virus report is expected on Monday.
He further stated that a fever desk has been set up in the hospital’s emergency department. The hospital lacks facilities to establish a large-scale isolation unit, but any instructions from the health department regarding setting one up will be followed.
