Former Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram’s wife, Shaniera Akram, has openly criticised actress Hania Aamir over a recently viral video showing the star riding a motorbike and dancing on a public road without wearing a helmet.
The video, which Hania posted herself on Instagram, drew swift reaction from Shaniera, who has long campaigned for road safety in Pakistan. She stressed that ignoring basic traffic rules is not only illegal but can also be life-threatening.
Shaniera Akram asseted that public figures, especially those with millions of followers, bear a greater responsibility to set a positive example for their audiences.
Reposting the clip on her Instagram story, Shaniera expressed deep disappointment over the casual display of such violations, particularly by a celebrity.
“I worked so hard for so many years with hospitals and doctors to try to influence the youth of Pakistan to wear helmets and ride safely. This is like a dagger to my heart,” she wrote, adding, “Celebrities have the power to influence. It breaks my heart when this is abused.”

Drawing from her own experience as a mother, Shaniera pointed out that young fans often mimic what they see online. If such influence promotes risky behaviour, she argued, those responsible for sharing the content should be held accountable.
She further revealed that she has personally witnessed tragic accidents resulting from similar stunts, which made Hania’s video particularly upsetting for her.
However, Shaniera clarified that her comments were not intended to single out Hania Aamir in a malicious way. “If my criticism can make someone realise their mistake, then it’s worth it,” she stated.
Calling the act “not rocket science, it’s illegal and it’s stupid,” Shaniera Akram urged all bike riders to wear helmets—not just to protect themselves, but to spare their loved ones, including parents, friends, and family, from unnecessary grief.
