Security forces killed nine terrorists on Sunday during two separate operations in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing reported.
Two terrorists were arrested, and two others were wounded in the operations, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The first operation, based on intelligence, was carried out in the general area of Dosalli, where security forces targeted the reported presence of Khwarij militants. During the engagement, six terrorists were killed, and two others were captured.
A second operation was conducted in Esham, where a fierce exchange of fire resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists, while two others were injured, the ISPR added.
Pakistan has seen a rise in terrorist activities, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The surge in attacks follows the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan’s breach of a fragile ceasefire with the government.
As a result, 2024 has become the deadliest year for both civilian and military security forces in Pakistan in a decade, with at least 685 security personnel killed in 444 terror incidents.
