Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir arrived in Islamabad on Friday as part of efforts to help de-escalate growing tensions between Pakistan and India.
According to diplomatic sources, Adel al-Jubeir is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit.
He will also hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, to discuss the regional security situation and explore ways to reduce hostilities between the two South Asian nuclear-armed neighbours.
The visit comes after Adel al-Jubeir travelled to New Delhi, where he reportedly met Indian officials to urge restraint and dialogue following recent military confrontations.
Saudi Arabia’s active diplomatic engagement signals mounting international concern over the heightened standoff between Pakistan and India, especially after recent cross-border strikes and mounting war rhetoric from both sides.
The Kingdom is believed to be playing a mediating role, calling for calm and encouraging both Islamabad and New Delhi to prioritise regional peace and stability.
