Saudi Arabia has taken a major diplomatic step by ordering Iranian diplomatic staff to leave the country within 24 hours, amid escalating tensions following ballistic missile attacks by Tehran targeting the Kingdom’s capital, Riyadh.
The move comes as regional hostilities intensify, with Saudi authorities condemning the strikes as a serious breach of sovereignty and warning of further consequences if aggression continues.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Iranian military attaché, assistant military attaché, and other members of the embassy have been instructed to leave the country within 24 hours.
The Saudi government has declared these individuals persona non grata.
Meanwhile, a ballistic missile attack was carried out on Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Defense, it was said that three ballistic missiles were launched toward Riyadh. One missile was intercepted, while two fell in an uninhabited area.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense also stated that five drones were shot down in the eastern province. Saudi Arabia has ordered two Iranian military attachés and three members of their staff to leave the country.
The Saudi government said that Iran has repeatedly targeted Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Arab and Islamic countries, warning that continued aggression will have serious consequences for their relations.
