BIRMINGHAM: England defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the third and final Test to complete a 3-0 clean sweep in the three-match series.
In the decisive Test at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, Pakistan once again struggled to put up a strong challenge against England’s batting and bowling, allowing the hosts to secure a comfortable victory.
England’s eight-wicket win in the final Test sealed a comprehensive series triumph and left Pakistan without a single victory across the three matches. The national side failed to produce the level of performance required throughout the series.
England had already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the first two Tests. With another victory in the final match, the hosts completed the series sweep, handing Pakistan defeats in all three Tests.
The 3-0 series loss is being viewed as one of Pakistan’s most disappointing recent performances in Test cricket. The result is also expected to raise questions about the team’s overall strategy, individual performances and leadership.
