LAHORE: Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) municipal chairman and local leader Sheikh Shabbir Ahmed was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Muridke.
According to police sources, the incident took place near the GT Road. Sheikh Shabbir Ahmed was travelling by car from his flour mill to his home in Lahore when armed men, who were allegedly lying in wait, opened heavy fire on his vehicle.
He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene, while the attackers managed to flee the area.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Muridke for legal formalities and a post-mortem examination.
Authorities said evidence was being collected and CCTV footage from nearby areas was being examined to identify and trace the suspects.
