Six family members, including four children and two women, lost their lives when the roof of their house collapsed in the Zakhakhel area of Khyber in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) early Sunday morning.
According to police sources, continuous rain over three days had weakened the structure of the house, ultimately leading to its collapse. Residents took it upon themselves to recover the bodies from the debris.
On a related note, the media had previously highlighted the disruptive impact of the rain in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), resulting in both loss of life and property. In the Budhpir area of Peshawar, an eight-month-old baby girl lost her life when her house’s roof collapsed due to the heavy downpour.
In another distressing incident in the Board Bazaar Tajabad area of the city, a roof collapse trapped three children and their mother under rubble. Rescue1122 personnel promptly shifted the injured to a hospital, with one of the children reported to be in critical condition.
Similarly, in Lower Dir, three individuals met a tragic end as their house succumbed to a mudslide. The series of unfortunate incidents underscores the severe impact of adverse weather conditions on communities in the region.
