More than 300 protesters have been charged after violent clashes with police at Karachi’s Numaish Chowrangi, as reported by national media.
The FIR states that demonstrators attacked police with batons, stones, and firearms, injuring six officers, including Sub-Inspector Raja Khalid. The charges include rioting, attempted murder, vandalism, terrorism, and assaulting law enforcement. Protesters also torched four motorcycles and damaged a police vehicle during the unrest.
According to a report by ARY News on Wednesday, Nineteen individuals have been arrested as part of the police crackdown. Meanwhile, two religious groups continue their sit-ins at six Karachi locations, causing significant traffic disruptions today.
Numaish Chowrangi remains fully closed to traffic, while roads leading to Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road, Abbas Town, Kamran Chowrangi to Mosmiyat, and Water Pump to Incholi are also blocked. According to traffic police, protests are ongoing at Numaish Chowrangi, Abu al-Hasan Isfahani Road, Kamran Chowrangi, and Water Pump.
Some routes remain open, including Sohrab Goth to Water Pump and Banaras to Orangi Town. Authorities have advised commuters to stay patient and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
