KARACHI: A dead body that was found near Do Darya area in Defence Housing Authority has been identified as a senior retired army officer.
The body of an elderly man was found a day earlier from a car near the coastal area who has now been identified as Lt General (retired) Muzaffar Hussain Usmani. He was 80 years old.
Local police said that he had died from a cardiac attack. Gen (retd) Usmani was driving his car in the area when he received a sudden cardiac attack and passed away. Police have taken the car into custody and shifted the body to PNS Shifa hospital.
Lt. General (retd) Muzaffar Hussain Usmani had also remained the Corps Commander of Karachi in the late 90s and was later promoted as Deputy Chief of Army Staff. He retired from the army in 2002.
Earlier in September, police had recovered an unidentified body from a vacant plot located in DHA.
The body was found in Tauheed Commercial from a truck standing at a vacant plot inside a gunny bag. The deceased could not be identified and his body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Hospital (JPMC) for legal procedures.
Rescue officials said the body was several days old which was stuffed inside the sack. They said the victim could not be identified after a postmortem is conducted to identify the cause of death.
