Authorities have completed the Rawalpindi Kachehri Chowk mega infrastructure project, with the official inauguration scheduled for Sunday.
The newly developed “Marka-e-Haq Square” includes flyovers, underpasses, and pedestrian bridges aimed at easing traffic congestion and modernizing one of the city’s busiest intersections.
Named “Marka-e-Haq Square,” the large-scale development features two flyovers, three underpasses, and two steel pedestrian bridges designed to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access in the busy area. Officials said the project was completed in just 187 days at an estimated cost of nearly Rs19 billion.
Work on the scheme began on November 3, 2025, and construction reportedly continued day and night in three shifts to accelerate progress and ensure early completion.
The overall cost of the project increased over time, mainly due to the expansion and enhancement of the elevated crossing structures.
The broader redevelopment plan also includes a modern six-sided pedestrian bridge, which is currently nearing completion.
Authorities confirmed that landscaping work beneath the flyovers has been finished, while street lighting and traffic signal systems are now fully functional. Road carpeting on both flyovers and the adjoining service roads has also been completed ahead of the inauguration.
