Internet users across Pakistan may experience slower connectivity in the coming days after Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced scheduled maintenance on one of its international submarine cables.
The telecom operator said the repair work will run from May 11 to May 18 and could affect internet performance, particularly during peak evening hours.
The repair activity is being carried out by the International Cable Consortium to fix a fault affecting one of PTCL’s undersea cables.

The company said that internet performance could be affected during the maintenance window, particularly in the evening hours when network usage is typically at its peak.
PTCL, Pakistan’s largest state-owned telecommunications provider, oversees multiple submarine fibre-optic cable connections that link the country to the global internet network.
Pakistan has frequently experienced connectivity issues in recent years, with undersea cable damage often blamed for nationwide slow internet speeds and service interruptions.
