He said the investigation had been expanded to locate the remaining stolen items and arrest other suspects allegedly involved in the crime.

Qazi Ali Raza said Islamabad Police would continue taking indiscriminate action against criminal elements involved in depriving citizens of their valuable possessions.

He added that the arrested suspects would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law and that all legal requirements would be fulfilled to ensure that those involved are brought to justice.

Background of the High-Profile Theft
The theft took place on October 1, 2026, at the residence of the former Bahawalpur royal family in the upscale Sector F-8/3 of Islamabad.

According to the initial investigation, a domestic employee allegedly carried out the theft with the assistance of other accomplices, targeting historical artefacts and family heirlooms reportedly worth around Rs200 million.

The residence belongs to Prince Bahawal Abbas Khan Abbasi, son of Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi. The stolen items were described as rare and historically significant, including a silver throne-like chair, silver stairs, silver bowls, gold plates, rare statues, gold items bearing the royal insignia of the State of Bahawalpur, a historic silver frame, as well as antique firearms and swords.

Rising Crime a Growing Challenge in Islamabad
The high-profile theft occurred amid concerns over a recent rise in theft and robbery incidents in the federal capital.

According to the report, eight separate incidents during the week resulted in the theft of cash, valuables and historical artefacts worth more than Rs340 million in total.

The recovery of a major portion of the stolen property and the arrest of six suspects are being viewed as a significant development in the case.
