KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal has termed the results of the National Census-2017 ‘controversial’, demanding the federal government to conduct a fresh population census in Karachi.
The Pak Sarzameen Party held a grand protest rally and a demonstration today (Sunday) against the federal government’s approval of the controversial results of the sixth national census
Addressing the participants, Mustafa Kamal said that the population of Karachi was shown less than the actual count in the census-2017. “Karachi will get 80 provincial assembly seats if the census is conducted in a transparent manner in the metropolis,” he claimed.
He expressed dismay at the city having been deprived of its rights for the last decade and a half and being plunged in divides along every line imaginable – religion, language, race, socio-economic status.
“These divides have been used by the ruling elite to distract the masses while the elite enriched themselves off Karachi’s resources and development,” he told the crowd.
He stated that he has believed in the legitimacy of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s office, never once calling him ‘selected’ or challenging how he obtained the highest seat in the country.
Lashing out at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Mustafa Kamal said that their ministers had also given nod to the results of the controversial census. “The MQM-P ministers are supporting the government to conceal their corruption,” he added.
