ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad court has formally indicted the prime suspect, Umar Hayat, in the murder case of teenage TikToker Sana Yousaf, who was shot dead on June 2 in the capital.
During Monday’s hearing, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal directly questioned Hayat, who pleaded not guilty to all charges.
“You are accused of murdering Sana Yousaf. What do you say?” the judge asked.
“I have committed no such crime. All of this is a lie,” Hayat replied.
The court also confronted him over allegations of snatching Sana’s mobile phone at the time of the incident, which he again denied as baseless.
The case had been registered at Sumbal Police Station, where investigators accused Hayat of harassing Sana prior to her death.
Police say the killing stemmed from a personal dispute between the accused and the 17-year-old, who hailed from Upper Chitral and had gained rapid fame on social media with more than a million followers.
The hearing was adjourned until September 25.
