Islamabad Traffic Police has announced that from October 1, strict legal action will be taken against drivers operating vehicles without a valid driving licence.
Violators will not only be arrested but their vehicles will also be impounded.
Inspector General of Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi has issued clear instructions to the traffic police that no one should be allowed to drive without a licence after the set deadline.
Cases will be registered against such drivers, and they will be taken into custody and transferred to the police station.
Under the new regulations, the crackdown will apply to both private and government drivers. No one will be granted release on personal surety, nor will temporary permits be issued. Only after obtaining a valid driving licence will drivers be allowed back on the roads.
To facilitate government employees, Islamabad Traffic Police has arranged on-site licensing services at their offices so they can secure licences before the deadline.
Authorities have urged citizens to apply for driving licences immediately to avoid legal action and financial penalties.
