FAISALABAD: The city police have arrested an imam of a mosque, who allegedly attempted to rape two minor girls in Faisalabad.
According to details, the prayer leader, identified as Muhammad Zahid, was arrested after his video went viral on social media. The police said the case was registered on behalf of the State as the parents were not ready to take legal action against the imam.
A police spokesperson informed that the incident took place in Chak 59GB of District Faisalabad. The girls are five and seven years old, while the locals have identified the man in the video.
The imam was arrested and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Sections 376 (for rape), 511 and 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code. A statement issued by the CPO Faisalabad’s office say that the “police will present case well to merit the case.”
A day earlier, a man was allegedly caught naked trying to rape a 10-year-old girl in a room next to his shop in the Madina Colony area of Karachi’s Khokhrapar.
The child had gone to the neighbourhood shop to buy some candy, when the shopkeeper lured her into his small room behind the racks. Luckily, the child’s grandfather sitting in the lane, saw her enter the shop, instead of buying the goods from the roadside counter.
He raised a hue and cry on which neighbourhood people stormed the store where they found the suspect naked, with the child cowering in a corner. He was given a sound thrashing before being handed over to the local police.
