KARACHI: The transmission lines supplying power to Karachi have been restored and the load is being increased gradually, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) said Saturday.
On a social media website Twitter, a spokesperson of the Power Divison said that NK Baldia 1 and Baldia 2 transmission lines were restored at 2:41 pm.

The Ministry of Energy said that the power outage in the city was caused by the tripping of the NKI Baldia 1 and Baldia 2 lines.
“The teams of KE and NTDC are working to restore the supply and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of tripping.” The statement further added that the system is normal in the rest of the country.

Several parts of Karachi reported massive electricity outages on Saturday as the power utility rushed to address the crisis.
The power supply to 25 grid stations has been suspended after a high-tension electricity supply line tripped The areas that faced the power outage include New Karachi, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Buffer Zone, Shadman, Sir Syed Town, Nagan Chowrangi, FB Area, and North Nazimabad.
Karachi Electric (KE), the power utility company responsible for the city’s electricity, said it had received reports of outages and was “urgently looking” into them.
“Interruption in the power supply is being reported from some parts of the city. We are urgently looking into this,” it said in a brief statement on Twitter.

Several residents shared messages on social media reported outages in their areas as temperatures soared in the metropolis on the weekend.
MQM-P Senator Faisal Subzwari said “half of Karachi” was facing the power breakdown and called on the federal government to step up and offer relief.
“There must be reasons but people suffering in this weather consider their excuses. Fed Govt must act to provide relief,” he tweeted.
The last massive power breakdown took place less than five months ago which plunged the entire country into darkness including major urban centers such as Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Multan.
