The US has reiterated its commitment to strengthen bilateral ties with Pakistan, focusing on key sectors including alternative energy, agriculture, climate, and the tech industry.
This was revealed in a high-level meeting between US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu US State Department Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary Elizabeth Horst and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb at the World Bank headquarters.
The meeting focused on upgrading the economic partnership between the two countries with an emphasis on alternative energy, agriculture, climate, and tech industries.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented an overview of Pakistan’s reform agenda, highlighting initiatives to broaden the tax base, streamline the energy sector, and speed up the privatization process of state-owned enterprises. Discussions focused on identifying investment opportunities for American businesses in Pakistan.
Pakistan pledged close cooperation with the US International Development Finance Corporation and EXIM Bank to promote mutual development and economic prosperity. The minister stressed the importance of strategic partnership for achieving sustainable development and tackling major economic challenges.
It should be remembered that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan accused US Assistant Secretary Donald Lu of plotting to topple his government, but Donald has always denied these allegations.
