PESHAWAR: In the wake of coronavirus epidemic situation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet here on Friday approved a policy for recruiting doctors on priority basis in the province.
Talking to media, adviser to Chief Minister on Information, Ajmal Wazir said the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan.
He said that the government has recruited 1300 doctors on contract and approved the appointment of 600 more doctors through the Public Service Commission.
The advisor said coronavirus testing capacity of major public sector hospitals are being increased besides extending the facilities to Dera Ismail Khan Mardan and Swat.
He further said there was no shortage of wheat and flour in the province. He added a relief package of Rs 6000, will be given to poor families of the province for three months. Ajmal Wazir said the KP government is taking all possible steps for the security and safety of the people.
According to provincial health authorities, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa jumped to 313, after more cases were reported on Friday. The virus has so far claimed nine lives in the province.
