Police arrest four suspects after two bodies left at JPMC

KARACHI: Local police on Sunday claimed to have arrested four suspects involved in letting two bodies of unknown persons at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

According to Saddar SHO Arshad Afridi, on a tip-off, a police team conducted a targeted raid in Karachi’s Saeedabad area and detained four suspects.

He further informed the arrest were made after obtaining data of two vehicles, including a cab and a rickshaw, which were used to bring the bodies to the JPMC. He said probe into the matter is underway to determine the facts of the matter.

In CCTV footage at JPMC, two men wearing shalwar kameez can be seen shifting the bodies from a rickshaw and cab to the JMPC emergency ward.

Earlier, a police statement had said they shifted the bodies to a mortuary for medico-legal formalities the identities of the deceased men and the cause of their deaths could not be ascertained yet, said in the statement.

On Friday night, unidentified men left two bodies at the emergency ward of JPMC in the city and fled. Sharing the details about Friday night’s incident, JPMC’s executive director Dr Seemin Jamali said that unknown men had brought the bodies to the emergency ward of the JPMC around 10.30pm, left them there and fled.

She mentioned that when the medico-legal section of the hospital came to know about the incident, they called the Saddar police station so that they could send a team for completing medico-legal formalities.
