KARACHI: Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi has said the Prime Minister Imran Khan will not leave Karachi alone, while the people of the city stand by him against the misrule of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
In a tweet, the minister said the decision by the prime minister to send National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to clean up Karachi before the next round of monsoon rains shows that he will not allow the economic heart to be destroyed by PPP’s criminal neglect.
He said sending the NDMA and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to clean stormwater drains is a clear indication of the “misrule & crappy governance” by the PPP since the past twelve years and failure to collect trash or manage rainwater.
“Sending the NDMA & FWO to clean storm drains & nullahs is a clear indictment of 12+ years of PPP misrule & crappy governance that it can’t even do the basics like trash collection & rainwater management,” he said in a tweet, with the hashtag #PMIKStandsWithKarachi
“@ImranKhanPTI decision to send NDMA to clean up Karachi before the next round of monsoon rains shows that he won’t allow Pakistan’s economic heart to be destroyed by PPP’s criminal neglect,” he added.
The minister said the government of Sindh has assumed nearly all the powers of the local government including water, sewage and solid waste management. “Who else to blame for the unliveable state of Karachi?” he questioned.
A massive cleanliness drive is underway in Karachi by the Pakistan Army on the directives of the prime minister. Frontier Works Organization (FWO) personnel reached Gujjar Nullah to assist the civilian authorities clear the choked sewerage drains
The drive has been launched under the oversight of the NDMA with heavy machinery to remove garbage, which has blocked the free flow of the water in the drain during the recent rainfall and transfer them to a landfill site.
