ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the dissolution of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor authority created on the CPEC project, for which consent will be obtained from China.
According to the details, the prime minister approved the termination of the CPEC authority yesterday, which was subject to China’s consent. Officials say that the decision will speed up the completion of the multi-billion dollar project.
Two months ago today, a summary was sent by the Ministry of Planning to dissolve the CPEC authority. Officials said that the authority has been making controversial decisions since its inception.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the dissolution of the CPEC Authority is in the interest of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, which aims to ensure speedy implementation of the CPEC projects. PM Shehbaz instructed to take China into confidence.

Ahsan Iqbal said that dissolving the authority established on the CPEC project, it should not be taken to mean that CPEC is being terminated by Pakistan. The Authority Act will be repealed with the consent of the Chinese authorities.
Ahsan Iqbal said that China has not influenced the internal decision-making of Pakistan regarding the implementation of CPEC so far, the decision to dissolve the authority is also valid under the policy of the Pakistan Muslim League-N. “We are not in favor of any parallel setup,” he said
