PM Imran Khan will not visit Karachi tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has deferred plans to visit Karachi tomorrow.

The prime minister was scheduled to visit Karachi on Friday where he was expected to announce a package for the rain-hit city. However, sources confirmed that the prime minister has postponed his visit.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the concerned authorities to finalise the proposed ‘Karachi Transformation Plan’ within a week.

The statement came while charring a high-level meeting, in which a proposed plan designed by the planning ministry to address challenges faced by Karachi was discussed.

According to PM Office, the Prime Minister was apprised on the proposed ‘Karachi Transformation Plan’, which has been formulated in line with Karachi’s problems and development requirements.

On the occasion, PM Imran said that the country’s development was linked to Karachi’s progress. The federal government will play its role to solve Karachi’s problems and its progress,” Prime Minister was quoted as saying.

In this regard, PM Imran last week promised that the federal government would not abandon the city’s people in their time of crisis.

On Twitter, PM Imran said, “My government is fully cognisant of the suffering of our people in the wake of the heavy rains, especially the people of Karachi.” He also announced that the Centre would work with the Sindh government to resolve Karachi’s issues.
