LAHORE: Spokesperson of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Marriyum Aurangzeb has claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan himself approved all the decisions related to sugar subsidy and export.
Responding to the sugar-inquiry commission’s report, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that all decisions were taken by PM and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar but the blame of corruption was put on Sharif family.
“Not a single mill of Sharif family has exported sugar. Ramzan Sugar Mill of former premier Nawaz Sharif was already closed. Now the purpose of establishing the commission and presenting the report is just a tactic to save Imran Khan,” she asserted.
She also questioned why concerned authorities have not arrested Imran Khan and Usman Buzdar until now. “When PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif can spend his time in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) jail, why has not arrested PM and CM Punjab until now,” she added.
Aurangzeb further asked that when Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar was not questioned because he was not holding any public office then, why Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Salman Shahbaz, and Yousaf Abbas are was interrogated without holding any public position.
Earlier on Thursday, the federal cabinet decided to make public the report of the sugar-inquiry commission. The inquiry report finds several government officials, opposition members, and most of sugar mill owners guilty.
