Pakistan’s renowned classical dancer Sheema Kermani has extended her support for the singer from Umerkot, Nirmala Maghani whose melody has been copied by elitist music producer Xulfi.
In her post on Facebook, Sheema Kermani posted, “Truth must prevail Nirmala Maghani keep up the fight- we are with you! This cheating must end! I have seen so much of my own work copied and plagiarised, my music used without my permission and of course no acknowledgment, it is shameful, but we must raise our voices against this.”
Earlier this week, Maghani claimed that Coke Studio producer Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan (Xulfi) had copied her melody for the song. She stated that she sent her melody to Xulfi as she wanted to be a part of the upcoming season of Coke Studio.
However, Xulfi did not reply at that time. At first, Magnani was unaware of the plagiarism until the release of ‘Tu Jhoom’, sung by Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal. It is when she realised that one of the melodies that she had sent to Xulfi was now a Coke Studio hit. Worst still, she had not been given any credit.

According to Maghani, she had been trying to get in touch with Xulfi ever since the song was released. However, Xulfi’s only response was he did not download her audio file, despite the blue ticks.
Coke Studio season 14 aired its first episode on 14th January. Premiered with an iconic track ‘Tu Jhoom’, Sufi singer Abida Parveen and Punjabi artist Naseebo Lal kicked off season 14 Coke Studio.
