ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Air Marshal (retired) Arshad Malik has completed his tenure after being appointed to the head the national airline in 2018.
Taking to Twitter, the PIA spokesperson said Arshad Malik has completed his tenure as CEO PIA and “bids farewell with a wish for a great and prosperous future for PIA and Pakistan.”
According to reports, Air Marshal Aamir Hayat has been appointed as Acting CEO of the national airline. A spokesman for PIA said that they had issued advertisement for the appointment of new CEO of the national flag carrier.
On October 11, 2018, the federal government announced the appointment of Arshad Mahmood Malik as the new chairman of cash-strapped PIA.
Air Marshal Arshad Malik retired from Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on July 12, 2020 and was approved by the federal cabinet to serve as CEO of the national flag carrier for three years on contract basis. He was appointed when PIA faced the issue of fake licenses of pilots that resulted in ban on flights of airline globally.
