Peshawar Zalmi has announced its plans to bring cricket back to their home city by conducting open trials at the iconic Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar. This development comes as construction on the historic venue continues ahead of the 10th edition of the PSL.
In an official statement shared on social media, the 2017 Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions expressed their excitement about hosting cricket in Peshawar once again.
“Today, officials from Peshawar Zalmi & the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government visited Arbab Niaz Stadium to review the ongoing work on the stadium ahead of (PSLDraft),” the franchise posted.
“We’re thrilled to announce that we are bringing cricket to our home soon, kicking off our (PSL10) campaign with open trials starting on 1st January at the iconic Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar,” the statement added.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jahan, accompanied by Peshawar Zalmi’s Director Mohammad Akram and other stakeholders, visited the stadium to assess the construction progress. Jahan confirmed that the project would be completed by February 15, ensuring the venue’s readiness to host PSL matches.
“We are optimistic about hosting PSL matches in Peshawar next year,” Jahan remarked during his visit.
