Late at night, unprovoked firing and shelling were carried out from Afghanistan’s side along the Pak-Afghan border, to which the Pakistan Army gave an immediate and effective response, forcing Afghan forces to retreat. The clashes took place in Chitral, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Angoor Adda, and Baramcha, where Afghan forces had targeted areas within Pakistani territory.
In the Pakistan Army’s action, nineteen Afghan border posts were destroyed or captured, including Manojba Two, Shaheedan, Jandosar, Durrani Mela, Durrani Camp, Ghaznali Headquarters, Turkmanzai, Lew Band, and Kharchar Fort.
During the operation, Pakistan used artillery, tanks, air force, drones, and other weapons, resulting in the deaths of several Afghan soldiers and militants, injuries to many others, and the evacuation of multiple posts by fleeing Afghan troops. Pakistani flags were also raised on some of the captured posts.
According to reports, the purpose of the Afghan forces’ firing was to facilitate the crossing of terrorist groups across the border, but the vigilant operations of the Pakistan Army foiled these plans. The Pakistan Army particularly targeted those posts that were aiding terrorists. Successful operations were also carried out in areas such as Chaghi and Kunar, resulting in the killing of several terrorists and the destruction of their hideouts.
Afghan forces suffered heavy human and material losses, after which they requested the Pakistan Army to halt its retaliatory actions. These incidents occurred at a time when the Afghan Foreign Minister is on a visit to India, indicating the panic among Afghan forces. The Pakistan Army has made it clear that every border violation and act of provocation will be met with a full response.
