Following a ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Pakistan has decided to reopen the Torkham border trade corridor, which had remained closed for the past nine days.
According to a private news channel citing customs sources, the Torkham border crossing was closed to all types of traffic nine days ago. Preparations are now underway to resume operations.
Customs sources further revealed that scanners have been delivered to the Torkham terminal to facilitate the clearance of cargo vehicles. Customs officials have instructed staff to report to the terminal immediately.
The Torkham trade crossing was shut down amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, halting all commercial traffic.
Dozens of trucks loaded with fruits, vegetables, and other goods destined for Afghanistan were stranded on the Pakistani side. Additionally, other border crossings—including Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan, Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, Kharlachi, and Chaman—were also closed during this period.
