Rising tensions between the United States and Iran have taken a new turn, with an analytical report circulating on social media raising serious questions about the possibility of war.
According to the report, large sums are being wagered on online betting platforms on whether the United States will launch a ground operation in Iran in the near future. Millions of dollars have reportedly been staked on this possibility, increasing global concern.
Citing the prediction platform Polymarket, it is claimed that approximately Rs13 billion ($46.88 million) has already been bet on the likelihood of US forces entering Iran by 30 April.
The analysis also suggests that any potential operation could focus on Kharg Island, a key oil facility from where Iran exports a significant portion of its crude.
It further notes that some accounts making such predictions had previously accurately forecast an attack and have now become active again, adding to the seriousness of the situation.
US Senator Chris Murphy has described betting on sensitive matters such as war as dangerous and has introduced legislation titled the “Bets Off Act” to curb such activities.
Experts warn that large-scale financial betting on war or conflict is not only concerning but could also influence global politics and economic stability.
