The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Tuesday announced that gas supply would be suspended in nine districts of Balochistan on Wednesday.
As per the SSGC statement, gas supply interruptions are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, and other cities in Balochistan due to ongoing repair work.
The suspension of gas supply will be enforced from 9 am to 5 pm, the statement mentioned, citing damage to gas pipelines caused by recent rains in Balochistan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Balochistan reported on Monday that 16 fatalities occurred during the recent heavy rains in the province. According to the PDMA, these casualties occurred since April 12, with the heavy rainfall causing significant damage to infrastructure across 11 districts.
PDMA also noted that 12 roads and two bridges have been impaired in various districts. The report further stated that 220 houses sustained damage, with 60 being completely destroyed and 160 partially affected. Relief efforts are underway in the affected areas of Chaman, PDMA informed.
Moevoer, a survey is being conducted to assess damages to houses and crops. The Pakistan Army is actively involved in draining rainwater from Gwadar, Pasni, and Jiwani, as per PDMA’s update.
