The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported that at least 881 people have lost their lives due to heavy rains and floods across Pakistan, while more than 1,100 others have been injured.
The Punjab has suffered the highest number of casualties, with 223 people dead and 648 injured.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 48 people have died and 359 have been injured, while Sindh has reported 58 deaths and 78 injuries.
Balochistan has so far recorded 26 deaths and 5 injuries linked to rain-related incidents.
The NDMA’s report also highlights the devastation in northern areas. Gilgit-Baltistan has reported 41 deaths and 52 injuries, Azad Kashmir has seen 37 deaths and 31 injuries, while in Islamabad, 8 people have lost their lives and 3 have been injured.
Among the dead are 510 men, 134 women, and 237 children, while the injured include 565 men, 289 women, and 322 children.
Disaster has also caused widespread damage to property and livelihoods. According to NDMA figures, 8,206 houses have been destroyed, and more than 6,100 livestock have perished.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a possible rise in epidemics due to stagnant floodwaters, raising concerns over an additional humanitarian crisis.
