KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) conducted raids in Defence Housing Authority and New Karachi area along with local police and arrested two suspects involved in a land scam.
The suspects are said to be close aides of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM-P) leader Adil Siddiqui who is said to be involved in a range of criminal activities including the illegal occupation of plots and public lands.
The suspects have been identified as Zahid Shah and Faisal Khan, who along with Adil Siddiqui, were involved in illegal occupation of plots in the Small Industries Zone.
The suspects were repeatedly summoned to appear before the anti-graft watchdog after which their non-bailable warrants were issued by an accountability court. The whereabouts are Adil Siddiqui are unknown although he is said to have left the country a few years.
On Thursday, NAB authorities conducted a raid his residence in Gulistan-e-Jauhar to collect evidence and recorded statements of those present including his family members and the gatekeeper.
Adil Siddiqui, a former MQM minister, has been declared an absconder under case no. 6/2020 while an accountability court has issued non-bailable warrants against him. in a corruption case.
Earlier in February, the executive board of the NAB approved to file a series of new corruption references and inquiries against various officials including MQM-P leader Adil Siddiqui.
