Traffic on the M-5 Motorway will be temporarily disrupted due to scheduled maintenance and power infrastructure restoration work by MEPCO, prompting authorities to issue diversion plans and travel advisories for commuters on key intercity routes between Multan and Sukkur.
According to the Central Region spokesperson, the Iqbalabad to Guddu section of Motorway M-5 will remain temporarily closed on June 15 and 16.
The spokesperson said that traffic at Guddu and Iqbalabad interchanges will remain suspended from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during these days. MEPCO will carry out maintenance work on high-transmission towers and power lines.
Traffic from Multan to Sukkur will be diverted from Iqbalabad Interchange to the National Highway N-5, while traffic from Sukkur to Multan will be rerouted from Guddu Interchange to N-5.
Heavy transport vehicles will not be allowed to enter the motorway from Rohri Toll Plaza during the specified hours.
The total distance of the alternative route is approximately 148 kilometers. Due to the diversion, light transport vehicles may face an additional travel time of about 2 hours, while heavy transport vehicles may take around 3 extra hours. Travelers are advised to plan their journey in advance and allocate at least 30 extra minutes.
