ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has said more than 140,000 applications have been received so far under the Government Hajj Scheme.
According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony spokesman, till Friday the 13 nominated banks had received 140,000 Hajj applications under the Government Hajj Scheme.
The banks have already been instructed to obtain Hajj applications on Saturday and Sunday. Earlier, Ministry of Religious Affairs has extended the dates of the submission of the Hajj application by two days.
In this regard, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has written a letter to the State Bank of Pakistan in it was informed to the bank to extend the collection of Hajj applications and receive the Hajj applications on Saturday and Sunday.
It is worth to mention here, Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri announced the Hajj policy and said that this year, one lakh 79 thousand 210 Pakistanis will be able to perform Hajj and the cost of official Hajj will be 4 lakh 90 thousand.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad last month, Noorul Haq Qadri said that the quota granted by Saudi Arabia to Pakistan is one lakh 79 thousand 210.
