ML-1 project will create jobs: PM Khan

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the ML-1 project from Karachi to Peshawar will create employment opportunities.
Presiding over a meeting on the ML-1 project in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the ML-1 project is the most important and key project of C-Pack. The ML-1 project will modernize and strengthen the railway system.
PM Imran Khan said that the ML-1 project would provide better travel and transportation facilities to the people. The ML-1 project will facilitate the business community, he added.
According to the premier, the ML-1 project will open a new chapter in socio-economic development. In the meeting, PM Imran Khan was given a detailed briefing on the ML-1 project and its benefits
The meeting was attended by Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh, Chairman C-Pack Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa, and other officials.
It may be recalled that last week the Executive Committee of the Economic Council had approved the ML-1 project. Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa had said in a tweet that the project from Karachi to Peshawar would cost more than 6.6 billion.
Earlier on 6th June, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) had approved the ML-1 railway track project. The recommendations of the DWP were forwarded to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). It may be recalled that on 18th April 2019, the ML-1 railway agreement was signed between Pakistan and China.
