Mishi Khan found Saba Qamar’s remarks about Karachi distasteful because Qamar has earned significant fame, money, and respect from work primarily based in that city.
Saba Qamar’s original comments, made during a podcast appearance, were in response to a question about whether she would like to move to Karachi. She responded with, “Astaghfirullah, never,” and stated she only goes to Karachi for work before returning to her preferred cities, Lahore and Islamabad. She also mentioned in a low voice, “I don’t like Karachi.”
These remarks drew widespread criticism on social media, with many users pointing out the perceived hypocrisy of working in and earning a living from a city while speaking negatively about it.
Mishi Khan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that one should show respect for the place that has contributed significantly to their success.
Saba Qamar later clarified her comments were meant to highlight issues with the city’s pollution and traffic in a humorous manner and not to offend anyone.
She expressed frustration with the city’s environment, stating it affected her skin and hair and that living there for more than a short period was a “real challenge.”
