KARACHI: Jibran Nasir, lawyer for the family of Mir Raza Ali, has expressed serious concerns over the police investigation and demanded that the investigation team be replaced.
Speaking to the media, Jibran Nasir said he was representing Mir Raza Ali’s family. He called it “shameful” that reports concerning the family’s marital and financial affairs were being circulated in the name of the police investigation. He also demanded an explanation from the Sindh Inspector General of Police regarding the matter.
Jibran Nasir alleged that police were using tactics to pressure the family and were harassing relatives instead of properly investigating the case. He claimed that family members were kept at a police office for hours and pressured to accept that the incident was a suicide.
He said the family had maintained from the outset that Mir Raza Ali had been murdered, but police officials continued to insist on the theory of suicide.
According to Jibran Nasir, he had raised 14 questions before the medical board and had received answers to them. He claimed that various samples had been collected and sent for analysis, while signs of physical assault had also been clearly identified on the body.
Jibran Nasir further claimed that alleged signs of assault were found on different parts of Mir Raza Ali’s face. He also said an unusual black substance was found on the body and extended up to the throat. According to him, a total of 17 samples were collected from the body.
