JHELUM: A six-and-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbor in Dina town in Punjab’s district Jhelum.
As per details, the incident took place within the limits of Dina Police Station, wherein a six-and-half-year-old girl was raped by her neighbor – identified as Furqan, ARY News reported on Saturday.
In response to the victim’s father’s complaint, a case has been registered at the Dina police station.
The complainant claimed in the First Information Report (FIR) that Furqan sexually assaulted his daughter when she went to the neighbor’s house to recite Quran.
The Jhelum Police assembled a team to apprehend the suspect after receiving the victim’s family’s statement, and additional investigation is ongoing.
On February 3, a teenage girl was raped in the city’s Dina district allegedly in a passenger van on her way home from a madrassa, the district’s top police officer said.
However, the police official refuted reports that the incident was a gang-rape but confirmed that authorities were busy searching for the suspect.
Jhelum DPO Captain (r) Syed Hammad Abid termed the January 30 rape case an “extremely tragic incident” and said the minor survivor had made changes to her initial statement. A rickshaw driver — and not the van driver or its conductor — had sexually assaulted the girl, he added.
