Milk rate increased by Rs20 in Karachi

KARACHI: The unrestrained dairy mafia has increased the price of milk in Sindh capital by Rs 20 per liter as it’s being sold at Rs 230 per liter in the city.

The urban administration and the Sindh government failed to implement the official milk price of Rs 180. The difference between the official and illegal price of milk increased to Rs 50 per liter. The dairy mafia is making an illegal profit of Rs 50 per liter of milk.

Sources in the dairy sector said that the illegal profit of Rs. 25 crores from the sale of 50 lakh liters per day is being grabbed by the mafia consisting of wholesalers and dairy farmers. The dairy mafia is defying the bill of money earned through illegal profiteering and is charging illegal prices from the citizens by boldly announcing price hikes.

On the other hand, sources in the dairy sector said that influential political figures and administration officials are patronizing the milk business, while top police officers to bureaucrats are involved in this business, which is the reason for the illegal increase in milk prices. is done and after a few days of demonstration, the public is left at the mercy of the dairy mafia.
