Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has announced an Easter grant for the Christian community in the province.
The total sum of the grant is Rs. 50 million, and it will benefit 10,000 Christian families, providing Rs. 5,000 per family in each of the 36 districts of the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the administration of all districts to ensure transparent distribution of the Easter grant. She has also ordered the completion of grant distribution to deserving Christian families, disabled individuals, the sick, and orphans within four days.
Rahila Khadim Hussain, the Chief Coordinator of the PML-N Minority Wing Punjab, has been nominated as the focal person for the distribution of the Easter grant. The PML-N Minority Wing Punjab has also been tasked with monitoring the distribution process.
Easter 2024 will be observed on Sunday, March 31st. Pakistan is home to more than 2 million Christians, with more than eighty percent residing in Punjab.
