Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement has asserted that it could accept Beirut receiving aid from International Monetary Fund (IMF) under reasonable conditions.
Hezbollah movement strongly opposed foreign interference in the country’s crisis-hit economy.
Hezbollah movement Chief Hassan Nasrallah said in a statement, “Any help within reasonable conditions, there’s no problem with it in principle.”
However, he also warned that the country must not fall under anybody’s trusteeship and should not hand over its financial and economic administration to outside parties.
Lebanon is one of the most indebted countries in the world and has been rocked by a months-long political and financial crisis.
Lebanon’s debt burden is now equivalent to nearly 170 percent of its gross domestic product.
