ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye will jointly decide their response if any one of the three countries comes under armed attack.
In an interview with an Arab television channel, the DG ISPR said the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement is defensive in nature and carries no offensive intent against any country. He added that details of any military response would not be made public due to security considerations.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan has full confidence in its defence capabilities and does not seek to become part of an arms race. Regarding Afghanistan, he said Pakistan’s primary concern is that Afghan territory should not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement was signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye on August 7, 2026, with the stated aim of strengthening collective defence, deterrence and regional peace and stability.
