Heavy rain caused urban flooding in Lahore as roads turned into rivers and water enters homes. Residents have faced severe difficulties due to water entering homes in low-lying areas, traffic jams, and the collapse of the drainage system.
The rain, which has continued intermittently, has caused flooding in various parts of the city. Areas including Cantt, Defence, and Walton have witnessed severe water accumulation, with many roads resembling ponds and several houses affected by rainwater.
In Lahore Cantt, the heavy downpour overwhelmed the sewerage system, resulting in several feet of standing water in areas including Ali View Gardens, Ali Park, Nadra Abad, and surrounding localities. Residents said many neighborhoods had turned into streams due to the flooding.
Meanwhile, rainwater entered homes in Defence Phase III’s Blocks A, B, and C, while Walton Road and Cavalry Ground were completely submerged. The main road in Cavalry Ground was also flooded, severely affecting traffic movement.
Water also accumulated on Main Defence Road, making it look like a river, while the Defence Underpass was filled with water. Traffic flow across different parts of the city was badly affected, with long queues of vehicles causing hours-long delays for commuters.
Continuous rainfall has left most of Lahore’s major roads waterlogged, disrupting daily life. Citizens have urged relevant authorities to ensure effective drainage arrangements and provide immediate relief.
According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day. The monsoon showers have brought relief from the intense heat and humidity in Lahore.
The minimum temperature in the city is expected to remain around 27°C, while the maximum temperature may reach 29°C.
The highest rainfall in Lahore was recorded at Allama Iqbal International Airport, where 262mm of rain was measured. Other areas recorded 200mm in Manawan, 151mm in Tajpura, 142mm in Kahna, 129mm in Shadipura, 127mm in Mughalpura, and 111mm at Upper Mall.
Rainfall totals were also recorded at 80mm in Johar Town, 60mm at Chowk Na Khuda, 54mm in Nishtar Town, 51mm in Iqbal Town, 49mm in Gulberg, 45mm on Defence Road, 29mm in Samanabad, 26mm on Jail Road and Pani Wala Talab, 24mm in Lakshmi Chowk and Farukhabad, 21mm in Sagian, and 17mm in Gulshan Ravi.

Heavy rainfall around Allama Iqbal International Airport has also disrupted flight operations, affecting both domestic and international arrivals and departures.

Six flights operating to and from Karachi, Dubai, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, and Istanbul were delayed due to the severe weather conditions. Airport authorities have advised passengers to check their flight status before arriving at the airport.
