KARACHI: A fire broke out at a warehouse inside a garment factory near Metroville in Karachi’s SITE industrial area, with firefighters continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
According to initial reports, the fire erupted in a warehouse located on the upper floor of Ormondia Garments, situated at Plot No. A-14. Following the incident, emergency teams from Rescue 1122 and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Fire Brigade promptly arrived at the scene.
More than five fire tenders are taking part in the firefighting operation. Two KMC water bowsers have also been called to the site to ensure an adequate water supply, while a snorkel unit has been dispatched to deal with any potential emergency and assist firefighters in reaching elevated areas.
Fire brigade officials expressed concern over the incident, noting that a fire had reportedly broken out at the same location just a few days earlier.
The warehouse is located on the factory’s upper floor. Officials said the cause of the latest fire and the extent of the damage would be determined once the firefighting operation had been completed.
Firefighters remain engaged in efforts to contain the blaze. Further details regarding possible casualties or property losses have not yet been confirmed.
