LAHORE: The Lahore Police have arrested a serving police official and registered a case against him following allegations of bribery, harassment, and abuse of power against a citizen on Ferozepur Road, according to a spokesperson for the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations.
The action was initiated by DIG Operations Faisal Kamran after a citizen’s complaint was verified. The investigation confirmed that a serving police official, identified as Khurram—who was posted in the security branch—along with a former official, Ahsan Nawaz, harassed a citizen and demanded bribes, allegedly threatening detention and job loss.
Following the verification of the report, official Khurram was taken into custody, and DIG Operations ordered his immediate dismissal from the force. The second accused, Ahsan Nawaz, had already been dismissed from service prior to this incident.
Reiterating the department’s stance, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran stated that a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption and abuse of authority remains in effect across the force.
He encouraged citizens to report any instances of bribery or extortion without fear, asserting that the Lahore Police will make no compromises on integrity, transparency, and public trust.
