The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has decided to introduce a satellite communication system in remote and hard-to-reach areas of the province to improve connectivity and emergency response capabilities.

According to police officials, operational teams will be able to maintain communication through satellite links during emergencies.

The system will serve as an alternative communication channel whenever mobile phone or landline services are disrupted.

In the first phase, the satellite communication network will be launched in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and several other remote districts.

A dedicated Command and Control Center will also be established to oversee the system, while a specialized team of experts will be deployed to monitor and manage the new technology.

Police officials said operational teams often face communication challenges in remote regions, affecting coordination during emergencies and security operations. The satellite-based system is expected to eliminate these issues and ensure timely communication with field units.

Authorities added that the new technology will help guarantee rapid access to incident sites during emergencies and strengthen coordination in disaster and crisis situations. After its implementation in remote districts, the system will gradually be expanded to other parts of the province.
